Get to know me!

Hi! My name is Isabella Hunter, but my friends call me Bells ; )

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan as the oldest of four kids. I was raised in a Christian household, and my parents made the decison to homeschool me and my siblings.

The main reason for being homschooled was because my parents wanted to be directly responsible for our education. I honestly loved school; learning is exciting for me and I have always been drawn to gaining knowledge.

The secondary reason I was homeschooled was because my sister and I trained very seriously as pre-professional ballet dancers. For years I dreamed of being a professional ballerina, and when I graduated from high school, I had to decide whether I was going enroll in a professional ballet training program or encourage my love for academia and attend a collegiate dance program.

After taking a gap year, I decided to attend college and started in the fall of 2018. In 2022, I graduated from Belhaven University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I was actually planning on ending my dance career after graduating, but God had other plans (per usual). So, in the fall of 2022 I started dancing professionally with a Dallas-based company called Zion Dance Project.

I danced with Zion for one season, and when the season finished I felt the Lord calling me to do a “reset”. After a lot of prayer and seeking council, I decided to press “pause” on my professional performing career and take a season to rest. And that is where I am right now!

I started this blog in the summer of 2020 when I was locked in my house, struggling to process what I was seeing, hearing, and learning. I have always had an obsession with words, but I never let myself really explore this outlet publicly until quarantine. But from a very young age, I used language as a way to express my creatvity and the deeper parts of myself, kind of how I used dance. I am so glad I found a new way to challenge myself and my gift, and to share what I am learning about myself along the way!

My heart is to help and encourage people as I share my little stories, even if only a few people read them. I have no idea what that future will hold, but I thought it would be fun to document my journey and maybe make some new internet friends along the way! As always, life is becoming ever more exciting, so here I am still writing.

I’ll talk to you soon! ; )
